2025 Out & About Fairfax Fall Fun Guide
Where to find fall festivals, Oktoberfests, family fun, and more across Fairfax County this season
Hey gang, Matt here! It’s almost that time of the year again — time to dig out your flannels, grab your pumpkin spice latte, and fire up some Crock Pot chili. And, you guessed it, it’s time to go Out & About to fall festivals all around the area!
In this special edition, we have pulled together our comprehensive list of fall festivals scheduled this season across Fairfax County. From some of our region’s most popular events to a few that may be new to you, we have details for more than 25 local fall festivals, Oktoberfests, and more fall fun in this year’s 2025 Out & About Fairfax Fall Fun Guide.
If you are familiar with our popular Farmers Market Guide this spring or July 4th Fireworks Guide this summer, this is our latest guide to serve as a one-stop-shop for your fall fun this season. Below, you will find details about each local fall festival, plus some other unique seasonal events, as well.

Fairfax (City of Fairfax, Fair Oaks, Merrifield)
“Falling for Fair Oaks” at the Fair Oaks Mall
When: Sunday, September 14 from 12:00p.m.-5:00p.m.
Where: Fair Oaks Mall, 11750 Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax
What You Can Find: A family-friendly event with seasonal food, interactive games, and live music. Check out carnival-style games and much more at the mall’s signature fall event.
Notes: Admission is free.
When: Saturday, September 27-Sunday, September 28, 2025, 11:00a.m.-6:00p.m.
Where: Mosaic District, 2910 District Ave., Fairfax
What You Can Find: This two-day fall festival in Merrifield’s Mosaic District, together with FreshFarm and URBNMarket, is one of the largest outdoor markets and festivals in the region, with 90+ scheduled handmade and vintage vendors, plus special live entertainment, food, activities such as pumpkin painting, and more.
Notes: Admission is free.
“Harvest and Chill Fest” at Fair Oaks Mall
When: Saturday, October 4, 2025, 11:00a.m.-7:00p.m.
Where: Fair Oaks Mall, 11750 Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax
What You Can Find: A classic fall festival with cozy curated features, including gourmet food and artisan markets, DIY fun and plenty of photo-ops.
Notes: Admission is free with food and drink available for purchase. (This event is cashless.)
49th Annual Fall Festival in the City of Fairfax
When: Saturday, October 11, 2025, 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m.
Where: Downtown Fairfax, 10415 North St., Fairfax
What You Can Find: One of the largest fall festivals around, this event hosts 400+ arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, children’s activities, a beer garden, live entertainment and much more.
Notes: Admission is free with fees for children’s rides and activities.
Fall Artisan Market at Fairfax Corner
When: Saturday, October 18, 2025
Where: Fairfax Corner, 4100 Monument Dr., Fairfax
What You Can Find: 40+ vendors headline this fall artisan market complete with live music, and plenty of free activities and crafts for the kids.

Falls Church, McLean, Vienna
49th Annual Falls Church Festival
When: Saturday, September 13 2025, 10:00a.m.-4:00p.m.
Where: City Hall & Community Center Grounds, 300 Park Ave., Falls Church
What You Can Find: This event includes the popular “Taste of Falls Church,” where local restaurants will serve samples you can purchase with “Taste Tickets.” Enjoy live entertainment, a beer garden, and check out more than 90 crafters, businesses, and civic organizations.
Notes: Admission is free with food and drink options available for purchase.
2025 Fall Fest at St. John the Beloved in McLean
When: Saturday, September 20, 2025, 12:00p.m.-4:00p.m.
Where: St. John the Beloved Church, 6422 Linway Terrace, McLean
What You Can Find: A family-friendly fall fun event featuring with children's activities such as face painter, moon bounce and climbing wall. Plus, enjoy tasty BBQ, live music, wine and beer bar, and more.
Notes: Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Free venue parking.
McLean Community Center’s “Harvest Happenings”
When: Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m.
Where: McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean
What You Can Find: This indoor-outdoor festival with live entertainment, a petting zoo, crafts and games. Check out the pumpkin patch, purchase pumpkins, and more.
Notes: Admission is free.
Oktoberfest Fun Run in Falls Church
When: Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00a.m.
Where: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3022 Woodlawn Ave., Falls Church
What You Can Find: Runners and walkers alike can line up for this one-mile fun run/walk in Falls Church! Cross the finish line and celebrate in Oktoberfest style with donuts, pretzels, and beer (21+).
Notes: The fun run is free, but donations are accepted.
When: Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 11:00a.m.-7:00p.m.
Where: Historic Church St., Vienna
What You Can Find: Your classic Oktoberfest complete with a beer and wine garden and plenty of German food and multinational cuisine, live entertainment on three stages, a vendor and artisan marketplace, and much more.
Notes: Admission is free.
Go Out & About Together
Great Falls, Herndon, Reston
Cider Making at Frying Pan Farm Park
When: Sunday, September 14 at 11:00a.m.
Where: Frying Pan Farm Park, 2709 West Ox Rd., Herndon
What You Can Find: Learn how to use an old-fashioned cider press and make your own cider! A fun hands-on fall fun event for all ages.
Notes: Registration is $60, includes up to eight people in a group. See link for more details and these links for similar events on Sept. 20 and Sept. 27.
Reston Farm Garden Market Fall Fest
When: Weekends from September 27-October 27, 2025, 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m.
Where: Reston Farm Garden Market, 10800 Baron Cameron Ave., Reston
What You Can Find: A great stop for families looking for fall fun, particularly the kiddos. Enjoy bounce houses, games, train rides, petting zoo, tasty fall food, and more. Kids receive a free pumpkin with admission.
Notes: Admission: $20/child, $5/accompanying adult
Kids Halloween Costume Exchange in Herndon
When: Friday, October 3, 2025 from 4:00p.m.-7:00p.m.
Where: Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Ave., Herndon
What You Can Find: Save your way into spooky season in Herndon this year with a free costume swap. From Sept. 22-Oct. 2, donate your child’s gently-used costume. On Oct. 3, come back and pick out something new!
Notes: Limit two costumes per family. No registration is required.
When: Friday, October 17-Sunday, October 19, 2025
Where: Frying Pan Farm Park, 2709 West Ox Rd., Herndon
What You Can Find: A farm-themed fall festival where you can watch the cider press in action, milk a cow, play old-fashioned games. Plus, enjoy Big Truck Night, a carnival with games and rides, and tasty fair food.
Notes: Admission is free, parking is $10 per vehicle.
When: Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 4:30p.m.
Where: Frying Pan Farm Park, 2709 West Ox Rd., Herndon
What You Can Find: Some fall fun for the kids as Halloween comes to the farm! Trick or treat, visit the farm animals, play games, and much more.
Notes: Registration: $12. Ages 2+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
When: Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00a.m.
Where: Colvin Run Mill, 10017 Colvin Run Mill Rd., Great Falls
What You Can Find: Learn how to use an old-fashioned cider press and make your own cider! A fun hands-on fall fun event for all ages.
Notes: Registration: $60, includes up to eight people in a group. See link for more details.

Burke, Centreville, Clifton
When: Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 9:30a.m.-5:00p.m. and Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m.
Where: Burke Centre Festival Grounds, 6060 Burke Centre Parkway, Burke
What You Can Find: Scheduled features include an arts and craft show, rides and amusements for the kids, festival food, beer and wine garden, live music, and much more.
Notes: Admission to the event is free.
When: September 20-November 9, 2025
Where: Cox Farms, 15621 Braddock Rd., Centreville
What You Can Find: This iconic Northern Virginia staple is back for the season and is full of fall fun, complete with family-friendly entertainment and attractions including slides, swings, animals, hayrides, Fields of Fear, and more.
Notes: Tickets are required for guests ages 2+ and prices vary betweens days and events. Check the link above for more information.
When: Sunday, October 12, 2025, 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m.
Where: 12644 Chapel Rd, Clifton (throughout downtown Clifton)
What You Can Find: Enjoy classic fall fun events, such as seasonal food and drink, a beer and wine garden, live music, children’s activities, pony rides, and much more. Plus, 150+ vendors will line Clifton’s streets for a unique shopping experience.
When: Saturday, October 18, 2025, 10:00a.m.-4:00p.m.
Where: Historic Centreville Park, 5714 Mt. Gilead Road, Centreville
What You Can Find: Centreville Day is back, and it includes plenty of fall fun themes. Kids can follow the Trick or Treat Trail through the marketplace and collect goodies (costumes are welcome). Plus, Ghost Tours will return through the heart of historic Centreville.
Notes: Admission and parking are free.
Alexandria, Mount Vernon, Springfield, Lorton, Annandale
When: Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00a.m. (opening day)
Where: 7310 Beulah St., Alexandria
What You Can Find: The Franconia Halloween tradition is back! Dozens of varieties of pumpkins and gourds, a pumpkin play area for the kids, photos at the famous Pumpkin Wall, plus plenty of seasonal food and drink options will be available.
Notes: The display area is free to check out. More details to come on the popular “illumiNIGHT” event.
Workhouse Arts Center Oktoberfest
When: Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 11:00a.m.-9:00p.m.
Where: 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton
What You Can Find: A classic Oktoberfest complete with seasonal food and drink, including beers available for purchase. Plus, live entertainment, lawn games, and more.
Notes: Admission is free, food and drink available for purchase.
Fall Wine Festival at George Washington’s Mount Vernon
When: Friday, October 10-Sunday, October 12, 2025, 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m.
Where: George Washington’s Mount Vernon, 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon
What You Can Find: A one-stop-shop for your tastebuds, complete with tastings from several Virginia wineries, a Tasting Tent for dessert, and a rare chance to explore the Mansion in the evening.
Notes: Tickets range from $40-$66 depending on time/day.
Fall Fest at Springfield Town Center
When: Saturday, October 18, 2025, 11:00a.m.-5:00p.m.
Where: 6500 Springfield Mall, Springfield
What You Can Find: A family-friendly fall festival complete with seasonal food and drink, fall activities, a DJ, live music, and check out dozens of exhibitors. Family-friendly costumes are encouraged.
Notes: Admission is free.
Pumpkin Patch at Nature Playce
When: Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1:00p.m.
Where: Hidden Oaks Nature Center, 7701 Royce St., Annandale
What You Can Find: Fall fun for preschoolers and a chance for them to find and decorate their favorite pumpkin.
Notes: Registration: $10, Ages 3-5.
When: Saturday, November 1, 2025, 11:00a.m.-5:00p.m.
Where: John Carlyle Square, 300 John Carlyle St., Alexandria
What You Can Find: A family-friendly Halloween experience in Alexandria, complete with sweet treats, arts and crafts, a beer garden for Mom and Dad and a Halloween costume parade for the kids.
Notes: Admission is free.
