It’s that time of the year again — the night sky lights up with fireworks displays to celebrate the 4th of July holiday! That’s why, today, we have our 2025 Out & About Fairfax July 4th Fireworks Guide to help you find a show in your neck of the woods. 🎇

In this special guide, we provide all of the information you need to find fireworks displays around Fairfax County in the days leading up to July 4 and on the holiday itself. We’ve outlined the top fireworks displays by city and region across the area so you can easily catch a show near you.

Fairfax/McLean/Vienna

  • City of Fairfax Fireworks

    • Where: Fairfax High School Stadium, 3501 Lion Run, Fairfax

    • When: Friday, July 4, 2025, 6:30p.m.-10:30p.m.

    • What to Expect: This event features concessions from local vendors and eateries, live music, and more. Shuttle service will be available. Fireworks are set to display around 9:30p.m.

  • McLean Independence Day Fireworks Celebration

    • Where: Langley High School, 6520 Georgetown Pike, McLean

    • When: Saturday, June 28, 2025, 6:30p.m.-10:00p.m.

    • What to Expect: Produced by the McLean Community Center, this event includes food and drinks, a DJ spinning your summer favorites, free on-site parking, and free admission.

  • Vienna Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks

    • Where: Yeonas Park, 1319 Ross Dr. SW, Vienna

    • When: Wednesday, July 2, 2025, 6:00p.m.-10:00p.m.

    • What to Expect: This event features live music, kids and family entertainment, food and drinks from local vendors, and more. Fireworks are set to begin around 9:30p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.

Alexandria/Mount Vernon/Lorton

  • Independence Fireworks at George Washington’s Mount Vernon

    • Where: 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon

    • When: Friday, June 27-Saturday, June 28 and Friday, July 4, 2025, 6:00p.m.-9:30p.m.

    • What to Expect: The event includes an evening of family fun, fireworks, and patriotic music. Tickets: $50, general public; Member, $40. Fireworks over the Potomac River will begin around 9:15p.m.

  • Workhouse Fireworks 2025

    • Where: Workhouse Arts Center, 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton

    • When: Saturday, June 28, 2025, 4:00p.m.-9:30p.m.

    • What to Expect: The event includes live music, food and drinks, and a family-friendly carnival-style midway. Fireworks cap off the night. Admission is free, but VIP options and paid on-site parking options are available.

  • Alexandria & USA Birthday Celebration

    • Where: Oronoco Bay Park, 100 Madison St., Alexandria

    • When: Saturday, July 12, 2025, 6:00p.m.-9:45p.m.

    • What to Expect: The event features live music, family fun, food and drink, and much more. The night caps with a fireworks display on the Potomac River starting around 9:30p.m. Admission is free.

Go Out & About Together

Reston/Herndon/Great Falls/Chantilly

  • Lake Fairfax Fireworks

    • Where: 1400 Lake Fairfax Drive, Reston

    • When: Saturday, June 28, 2025, 12:00p.m.-10:00p.m.

    • What to Expect: Ticketed entry for the day-long event starts at 12:00p.m., but you are encouraged to arrive no later than 8:00p.m. for the fireworks, which are set to begin around 9:00p.m. Tickets: $20 in advance, $25 at the gate.

  • Herndon’s July 4th Celebration at Bready Park

    • Where: Bready Park, 814 Ferndale Ave., Herndon

    • When: Friday, July 4, 2025, starting at 6:30p.m.

    • What to Expect: Enjoy family games, live music, children’s activities, food and refreshments, and more at this free event. Fireworks are scheduled to start around 9:30p.m.

  • Great Falls 4th of July Fireworks

    • Where: Turner Farm, 925 Springvale Rd., Great Falls

    • When: Friday, July 4, 2025, 6:00p.m.-9:30p.m.

    • What to Expect: Gates open at 6:00p.m. for a cornhole tournament, inflationable bounce houses and fun for kids, food trucks, and more. Fireworks are scheduled to start around 9:00p.m. A $20 donation per family is suggested. Note: Dogs are not permitted at the event.

  • Star Spangled South Riding (Chantilly area)

    • Where: South Riding Golf Club, 43237 Golf View Drive, South Riding

    • When: Friday, June 27, 2025, 5:00p.m.-10:00p.m.

    • What to Expect: For the 30th anniversary of Star Spangled South Riding, enjoy a parade and other festivities, beverages for purchase, and cap off the evening with a fireworks display starting around 9:15p.m. Pets are not permitted. Note: Parking is not available at the golf club.
