Now, let’s get down to business because this week is jam-packed. We have details about history-themed events and Father’s Day fun across the area, including cars, planes, and Founding Fathers. An early Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, including my Dad!
We also preview the Taste of FFX (Fairfax), the (new) kickoff of Summer on the Green in Vienna, and a big-time book festival for kids as summer vacation officially begins. Plus, details about a Fairfax County brewery merger.

History comes to life across the county, plus Father’s Day finds! ✈️
Innovations in Flight at Air & Space Museum
The Smithsonian’s Air & Space Museum at the Udvar-Hazy Center is featuring iconic World War II aircraft this Saturday, June 14. Check out more than 50 historic and modern aircraft, talk with pilots, and more to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The event runs 10:00a.m.-3:00p.m.

Mount Vernon Celebrates 250th Anniversary of Washington Taking Command
A milestone anniversary at Mount Vernon this weekend as they celebrate the historic moment George Washington took command of the U.S. Army. This weekend also marks the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary. The event features a boat parade on the Potomac River, live patriotic music, an up-close look at Washington’s horses, and much more.

Declaration Day at Gunston Hall
History comes to life at the home of George Mason for “Declaration Day,” a festival celebrating the 249th anniversary of the ratification of Virginia’s Declaration of Rights, on Saturday, June 14. Enjoy tours of historic Gunston Hall, live music, speakers, and more. This event is free and runs from 10:00a.m.-4:00p.m.

National Museum of the U.S. Army Hosts 250th Anniversary Celebration
Enjoy free admission at the National Museum of the U.S. Army on Saturday, June 14 in honor of the Army’s 250th birthday. Enjoy special activities, engaging programming, a book sale, giveaways, and more. The event runs 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Celebrate Father’s Day with a classic car show in Chantilly on Sunday, June 15 at Sully Historic Site. Check out restoration displays, antique cars, cars for sale, and more. Tickets: $12 in advance, $15 at the gate. The event runs 10:00a.m.-3:30p.m.

Father’s Day Mill in Motion in Great Falls
This event is a great chance for Dad to check out history in action at Colvin Run Mill on Sunday, June 15. A miller will showcase 19th century technology at work. Free admission for fathers and grandfathers.

The Nation’s Gun Show at Dulles Expo Center
The Dulles Expo Center hosts The Nation’s Gun Show this weekend, running Friday, June 13-Sunday, June 15. A variety of firearms will be on sale and on display through the weekend, including rifles, shotguns, historic firearms, and more. Tickets start at $15 for adults with a three-day pass available for $25.

The first Taste of FFX Festival, plus some big news for two Fairfax County breweries.🍻
Food, fun, live entertainment, and more headline the Taste of FFX Festival on Saturday, June 14 at the Fair Oaks Mall. Enjoy samples from local restaurants and food vendors and shop from local artisans at this first-ever event. The event runs from 11:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Brew News — Mustang Sally Brewing & Bunnyman Brewing to Merge
Two of Fairfax County’s favorite local breweries, Mustang Sally and Bunnyman, are merging together, according to social media posts by both breweries on June 7. Mustang Sally, located in Chantilly, announced their customers can expect to see Bunnyman branding on glassware and cans soon. Bunnyman has locations in Burke and Lorton.
Meanwhile, Bunnyman Brewing is hosting a pickleball tournament at the Workhouse Arts Center on Saturday, June 14. Proceeds benefit Veterans in Pickleball.
Bingo Night at Paradise Springs Winery
Enjoy a classic bingo night at Paradise Springs Winery on Friday, June 13 starting at 6:00p.m. Enjoy wine, food trucks, and more. Prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. Tickets: $10. Ages 21+.

Father’s Day Pig Roast at Fair Winds Brewing Company
A family-friendly pig roast hosted by Lorton’s Fair Winds Brewing and Wagon Wheel on Sunday, June 15. Enjoy tasty pork, sides, and cold craft beer. Tickets are $55 for adults, $17 for kids. The event runs 12:00p.m.-3:00p.m.

The Dangerous Summer Comes to Capital One Hall
The Baltimore-area alt-rock band brings their decades of hits to Capital One Hall on Friday, June 13. New York-based Keep Flying opens. Tickets are $35. Showtime: 8:00p.m.

Final Weekend for Aladdin at Creative Cauldron
The Disney classic comes to life for its final performance this weekend at Falls Church’s Creative Cauldron. The show runs Thursday-Sunday. Tickets start at $25 for students and $40 for adults.

Children’s Summer Reading Festival
The Fairfax Library Foundation is hosting its 2025 Children’s Summer Reading Festival on Saturday, June 14 at the Sherwood Regional Library. This free event is designed to help kids keep up with their summer reading all while kicking off their summer vacation with games, food, face painting, and, of course, books. The event runs 10:00a.m.-1:00p.m.

Mosaic District’s Films in the Park
The Mosaic District kicks off their summer outdoor movie series with a screening of “Wicked” on Thursday, June 12. The series runs Thursdays at 7:00p.m. through August 14.

Mark the Fairfax science lab’s 10th anniversary with special giveaways, experiments, and more on Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15. Tickets are $15 and good for two hours in the lab.

Kids Give Back Community Night

News & Notes
The Potomac League, a summer league for college baseball players, kicks off next week at Capital One Park in Tysons. Check out the schedule here.
🏈 The D.C. Defenders are in the UFL Championship Game on Saturday against the Michigan Panthers. Kickoff from St. Louis. Kickoff is at 8:00p.m. You can watch on ABC.
⚽️ D.C. United is at Salt Lake on Saturday and the Washington Spirit is at Portland on Sunday.
