A taste of the South continues to expand across Northern Virginia as Chicken Salad Chick’s new restaurant in Herndon is set to host its grand opening on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Chicken Salad Chick, which was founded in Alabama in 2008, offers a variety of chicken salad flavors, plus soups, pimento cheese, and more. The Herndon store, located at 494 Elden St., is the third and latest location in Fairfax County, following the opening of its Falls Church and Chantilly locations in 2024.

Out & About Fairfax recently had a chance to speak with one of the local franchisees, Devon Chamberlin, ahead of the grand opening. • Chicken Salad Chick: “Chicken Salad Chick is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in 12 made-from-scratch flavors of chicken salad, but we also offer fresh sides (broccoli, grape salad, fresh fruit, pasta salad), gourmet soups, classic mixed green salads, tasty desserts (cookies and cake), and top-notch customer service. Our vision is to provide each guest who walks through our doors with an exceptional experience.” 
  

• Out & About Fairfax: “Do you have any fun promotions planned to kick off the new Herndon location?”

• Chicken Salad Chick: “Yes! We have a week full of giveaways planned. Our first 100 guests will receive free chicken salad for a year (1 large quick chick per month for a whole year that will load directly into their app), and we have tons of prizes and giveaways for the remaining 4 days we are open that week. Think tumblers, fun "chick" themed cooking utensils, and overall cool swag! On grand opening day, we will also have a fun photobooth available right inside our doors from 10:30a.m.-12:30p.m.”

• Out & About Fairfax: “Do you have plans for future expansion in the area?”

• Chicken Salad Chick: “Yes! We are in the process of submitting plans to the Town of Leesburg where we are slated to open our fourth location and first in Loudoun County! We have also been keeping our eyes open in Burke, Alexandria, Arlington, and Brambleton for the near future.”
  

• Out & About Fairfax: “Chicken Salad Chick first opened in Alabama. How did you first discover Chicken Salad Chick, and what made you want to open a franchise in our area?”

• Chicken Salad Chick: “I was first introduced to Chicken Salad Chick in Tallahassee, FL, where I spent part of my formative years. As a self-proclaimed chicken connoisseur, it didn’t take long for me to get hooked; literally one bite, and I kept coming back for more. But what truly won me over wasn’t just the food; it was the heart behind the brand. Chicken Salad Chick is deeply rooted in giving back, spreading joy, and enriching lives. With my background in clinical social work, those values resonated with me on a personal level and made me proud to be part of something so meaningful. I knew I needed to introduce it to my hometown, and I'm so grateful I did.”

• Chicken Salad Chick: “Our soft opening "Friends and Family" event is on November 17th, 2025, and for this event, we provide meals on a "donation" basis rather than accepting payment. All proceeds for our Friends and Family for Herndon will benefit The Ronald McDonald House of Greater Washington D.C. Charities.
